Carabao Cup draw – Southampton get Brighton, Newcastle at Forest

ESPN FC’s Craig Burley details the expectations for new managers Maurizio Sarri and Unai Emery ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal’s match this weekend.

Southampton will travel to Brighton in the Carabao Cup in the only all-Premier League matchup of the second round.

The 13 top-flight clubs not involved in the Champions League or Europa League enter the cup at this stage, but only south-coast rivals Southampton and Brighton were drawn against each other.

Newcastle face a trip to four-time winners Nottingham Forest, who beat the Magpies at St  James’ Park in the same stage last year, while West Ham will also travel to play AFC Wimbledon in a London derby.

Crystal Palace and Huddersfield also face tough matchups away to recently relegated clubs Swansea and Stoke City, respectively.
